Students aged 15 in OECD countries (Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development) took an assessment given out by the Program for Internation Student Assessment Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development in order to measure the education of each country. Shanghai, China boasted the highest scores for its students, putting the Western world in a state of dismay. Surprisingly, China somewhat recently pulled out of the Cultural Revolution, when education was limited and elementary, yet its students beat other students by up to more than 100 points on average. For that reason many were shocked to learn that what the assessment had proven.
