China has urged many countries not to attend the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony in Norway tomorrow out of respect for the country. Liu Xiaobo was awarded this year's prize for his continuing non-violent protests in China encouraging democracy and speaking out against the Chinese government. So far, 19 countries have said they would not attend the ceremony but China insists that up to 100 countries won't show up. Liu has been sentenced to 11 years in prison, his wife is on house arrest, and his family has been forbidden to leave the country in order to collect his prize. Many other protesters who speak out against the government have been detained and media personnel around the country have been forbidden to discuss the issue.
