Political Pipelines?

<-- Projected stream routes

Russia is building major pipelines between Russia and Europe that will allow the state to transport gasoline from Russian and other Central Asian countries to the European Union. Russian president Dmitry Medvedev explains that the routes are win-win for both of the continents involved - it promotes Russian exports while allowing Europe to reach out to new resources and energy options. Some critics however believe this is a political move for Russia, and that the Russians are trying to make Europe dependent on their sources so as to exercise control.

Even if Medvedev didn't intend for this pipelines to be a political move, I believe he knows of the political benefits that the routes will incite. Nevertheless, I view this project as an extension of the massive globalization movement taking place across the globe (USA included)
