"Nativity photos not against law, says data watchdog"
Concerned with the Data Protection Act, schools in the UK have prohibited pictures on campus to "protect pupils who were adopted or in foster care." For this reason one father was threatened with arrest when he tried to take pictures of his child at the elementary Christmas play. Parents across the nation were outraged!
But the Information Commissioner stepped in to explain that as long as the photos are used for private purposes, then the photography is legal. The act was in no way intended to prevent the parents from capturing childhood memories.
