"Mexican Drug Leader Believed Dead"

One of the top drug cartel leaders, Nazairo Moreno Gonzales, is believed to have been killed recently with a shot. For many, this loss of a leader meant that La Familia would be weakening. However, others fear that when an important leader falls, more violence erupts to settle who will be the sucessor. The violence erupting from the drug cartels has caused schools to shut down and several police officer deaths. Also, many speculate that his death is not as important because the true leader is José de Jesús Méndez Vargas, also known as El Chango. The Mexican government continues to battle the Cartels as more than 5,500 armed officers have been on their case.
